Our story
57 years ago Taylor’s opened its doors as a small college in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It became a full university only in 2012, and it has grown into the #1 private university in SE Asia, one of the top 30 universities in Asia, and 272nd in the world in the QS World University Rankings. Very few institutions anywhere have grown that far, that fast, in the span of a single career.
The School of Computer Science is where that growth is heading next. It is ranked in the global top 100 for AI and Data Science, and it is building its research around a dedicated Huawei Lab and a specialised Cybersecurity Hub, with industry partners on campus and the region’s AI infrastructure being built a short drive away.
In the School of Computer Science we have around 50 academics, close to 3,000 students, full programmes and a healthy budget. Its research is strong, and the school wants it stronger. That is why Taylor’s is hiring at Associate Professor and Professor level now: to bring in people who will set the school’s research direction for the next few years.
We are looking for an Associate Professor who will start a research line here and grow with the school. Someone who already brings in external grants as Principal Investigator, has PhD students they have seen through to the end, and publishes in the strong journals of the field. The Associate Professors the school hires now might be its Professors in a few years, and the school hires with that in mind.
This school works across cultures every day. So how you are with people matters as much as what you publish.
