How do you remove duplicate publications from an academic CV? Researchers have long done it by hand, line by line, and since 15 July 2026 Axe Builder does it for them. The same paper often arrives twice, once from ORCID and once from an uploaded CV, with the year drifting by one or the title wrapped differently, and on a publication list that a hiring panel counts line by line, a duplicate reads as padding.
Axe Builder, our resume builder for researchers, turns an ORCID iD into an academic resume with citations, h-index, journal quartiles and Crossref data already in place. Once the citation data has settled, it now folds the copies into a single entry, reports how many it merged, and offers an undo for any merge the author wants back. The sweep also recognises a preprint and its published version as the same work and counts them once.
Why a clean count matters
University job requirements are written in counts, such as ten to fifteen Q1 and Q2 papers in five years, and a hiring panel that finds one duplicate re-counts the whole list. We verify publication lists for universities every week, and the duplicate sweep is the first check we would run on yours.
