Should a master’s thesis title go on an academic CV? It should, when it marks where the research began. In many fields the master’s thesis is the first real piece of research, and its title tells a hiring panel the line a career has followed since. Axe Builder, our resume builder for researchers, turns an ORCID iD into an academic resume with citations, h-index, journal quartiles and Crossref data already in place. Since 12 July 2026, a thesis title stored on a master’s degree prints with that degree in Education, exactly as a doctoral thesis title does.
The line is small and has a specific job. A reader who sees the same subject in a master’s thesis, a doctorate and a current grant reads focus, which is what research-led universities hire for. Researchers have nothing to add by hand, because the title they already stored now appears where it belongs.
